The tiler arrived at 7 AM and quickly set about jackhammering up all the old floor tiles, and removing the wall tiles and the mouldy plaster board.

I am glad our kitchen is only small and I thought to put a sheet over our couch and temporary kitchen because my goodness what a noise and mess… dust everywhere.

After cleaning up all the broken tiles and grinding the floor to remove the old glue, it was time to lay the new tiles. We had a few boxes of the lounge room tiles that we had salvaged from the previous management and we knew it was going to be quite close.

The tiler did a great job and we decided to save tiles by not going right to the wall where the floor will be hidden by the kitchen cabinets.
The only place the tiles go right to the wall in the pantry area and under the dishwasher.
The tiles all went down with no issue and we actually ended up with five left over which meant if we had gone right to the wall we probably would’ve been one short .

After the tiler left, I spent some time trying to clean up the best I could. There is still a fine layer of dust pretty much everywhere in the living room, but it can wait until next week or so when the kitchen is finished and we can wipe everything down properly.

The tiler came back in the next morning to finish the grouting .

Next step is new plaster board to cover where we took down the mouldy boards .
