We are now on the home stretch.

The tiler came bright and  early to lay the tiles for the splash back. It did not take him very long and he was able to grout them on the same day.

We only had to be careful with them for 24 hours. He told us not to wipe them over or really not to use the kitchen at all until the grout and the silicon sealant had all cured properly.

I am extremely happy with the tiles. I had planned on shopping around a few weeks ago, but with my wrist, it was now a case of get whatever tiles I could.

I found these medium format white  Johnson “Flow” tiles at Bunning’s . I cannot believe how great they look, the wave patern in them is much nicer than plain white gloss would have been.  Also, the larger size means less grout to keep clean.👍

A couple of days later and the plumber and the electrician were back and everything was hooked up ready to go.

It was then M’s turn to be the tradie, as he finished off all the painting of the walls.

We spent the weekend putting things back into the cupboards pretty much in the same place they were in the old kitchen.

M then disassembled the kitchen cabinet we had in the living room, and it went to the tip through the week.

We are both really happy with the way it has all turned out.  The next challenge though, is to work out how to use all the functions on the oven.

When I am able to drive again, we will go down to Brisbane to the Asko showroom and do one of their cooking classes, but for now we have worked out how to do the basics 🙂
